Special day out with 26038, 29th March 2014

We are proud to announce our second member’s following on from the enjoyable member’s day in 2013. Come and spend the day with 26038 and get some miles in style…

The SRPS has been kind enough to offer us a slightly later slot in the March, as timetabled services do not start until 5th April this year with Easter being later.

Wrap up warm!

Due to outstanding work needed on the bogies currently under 26024, we will only have 26038 in service this year.

Also following completion of the new platform, (excepting any very unexpected occurrence!) we shall be running through to Manuel Junction this year, and be able to get some photographs at a different location.

Therefore we are hoping for a really enjoyable day, and hopefully meet up with some old faces, and perhaps enjoy a pint or two. Please try and support the event, as we need to at least break even in order that we can continue to offer such days out with our locomotives.

Fares are:

  •  6LDA Shareholders: £7.00 for the full day.
  •  Non-members: £14.00 for the full day,
  •  £7.00 for a single out and back trip.
  • SRPS members £10.00 for the full day on production of valid membership card.
  • Non-members who purchase a £20.00 share in the group’s locomotives will be entitled to the reduced member’s rate of £7.00 for the full day’s travel (i.e. £27.00 in total).

6LDA’s representatives will be aboard the train on the day to issue tickets and provide information about the group, and its locomotives.

Real ales will be available on the train. After the 12.17 arrival back at Bo’ness there will be time for a short break prior to the 13.00 departure, there is a supermarket within 5 minutes walk from the station for those wishing to purchase food.

We will be discussing with our event organiser if any other very limited catering can be arranged aboard the train, otherwise arrangements are underway for tea and coffee to be available at the station this year.

We may be able to arrange stops at Kinneil halt on the day if anyone would like to alight there for a short walk to the Corbie Inn, which is an excellent real ale pub.

Departures from Bo’ness are proposed to be:

  • 1000 to Manuel arrive back at Bo’ness at 11.02
  • 1115 to Manuel arrive back at Bo’ness at 12.17
  • 1300 to Manuel arrive back at Bo’ness at 14.02
  • 1415 to Manuel arrive back at Bo’ness at 15.17
  • 1530 to Manuel arrive back at Bo’ness at 16.32
  • 1645 to Manuel arrive back at Bo’ness at 17.47

All trains will run-round at Manuel Junction – stops at Birkhill (and possibly Kinneil) can be arranged for those wishing to alight for photographs.

Public Transport
The Number 45 or Number 46 bus runs from Linlithgow Cross (turn left out of Linlithgow station, the bus stop is located in the High Street) to Bo’ness bus station (opposite the railway line, and a few minutes walk from the railway station).

Times from Linlithgow Cross are at xx.15 and xx.45 past the hour, with a 20 minute journey time, so you need to be on the 09.15 from Linlithgow Cross at the latest to connect with the 10.00 departure.

There are a number of bed and breakfasts in Bo’ness, also the Richmond Park Hotel does offer a discount if you state that you are visiting the SRPS at Bo’ness.
