26024+26040
1O90 1210 Glasgow Central to Brighton; Glasgow to Carlisle via the Sou’West. The train before had been 47209, suggesting a slight shortage of strummers… The 26s departed on time and arrived at Carlisle 14 down; 26040 went back to Polmadie with 47209 (0B00 arriving 1755), 024 returned on its own, arriving Polmadie at 2050.

Monday 25/02/91

Monday 30/09/91
26010, 26014, 26024, 26032 and 26042 were transferred from DCHA to DCHB. Owing to overspend on East Coast engineering, there were to be few east Coast turns for these engines over the coming months (in November, 26010 did not leave the old DMU shed at Eastfield for over three weeks). Only some extensive work around Motherwell saw the locos working at all regularly.

Wednesday 02/10/91
26028 was withdrawn at 0800, leaving the fleet strength at 23 and only 26014, 26024 and 26042 in blue.

Tuesday 14/01/92
The almost-forgotten weekend-only pool got the chance to come out and play. DCHB machines 26014 and 26042 were ‘transferred’ temporarily to the A pool to cover for the two xos absentees. In reality, 26014, 26024, 26032, 26036, 26037 and 26042 were used on a variety of DCHA trips.

Thursday 23/07/92
26024 6D03 0130 Perth to Mossend. 024 had worked this train (booked for a Spoon) on a few occasions while working off Thornton. On this date it returned from Mossend on 8G39 to Methil Power Station and ran light to Thornton.

Friday 09/10/92
26002, 26014, 26024 and 26042 were withdrawn in the afternoon.

26024 had failed between signals M104 and M114 on the Rutherglen & Carmyle line on Polmadie ballast trip AT52 (which was 27 empty Y/ZCV wagons). 26007 arrived from Polmadie and dragged the train to Mossend. 26024 eventually arrived at Motherwell where it was decided two traction motors were beyond economic repair.
